FAQ's

  • What if I'm no good at music?

You don't need to have any musical training to take part in music therapy. I will support you in any music making we do as part of our sessions.

  • What happens in a music therapy session?

This really depends on the person in the session. We are all unique and have our own experiences and relationship to music.

In our first session we will start by finding out how we might use music in the therapy to support your needs. This might include:

- Listening to music

- Talking about music that is meaningful to you

- Exploring instruments and sounds together

- Singing or writing songs.

I will support you in how we do this.

  • Where will music therapy sessions take place?

I visit people in their homes, schools or day centres. We will agree the best place for sessions to take place.

  • What training does a Music Therapist have?

Music Therapists are trained at postgraduate level and required to register with the HCPC which is the regulatory body.
